Official Rules and Regulations for the District
17 Traveling Gavel
Brothers,
Below are the rules for the District 17 Traveling gavel.
The below rules will be physically attached to the gavel, and I
strongly encourage a member of each District 17 lodge that has a
computer,
(Possibly Secretaries), to print a copy of the below 2008-2009
Traveling gavel rules and post them in your lodge hall.
The Grand Lodge of Kentucky Traveling Gavel Program for District 17
Rules and Regulations:
The Traveling Gavel should be placed in clear view of all visiting
Brothers
(1) The traveling gavel must be claimed from a lodge on a regular
stated commutation.
(2) Visiting lodge members are the only ones to be counted towards
the the gavel.
(3) Minimum requirement to obtain Traveling Gavel.
a. Master and one other member
b. Two officers
c. One officer and two members
d. Four or more members
(4) If two or more lodges within the district visit a lodge, which
qualify, the lodge that brought the most members will receive the
gavel.
(5) If there is a tie, the lodge that traveled the farthest will
receive the Gavel. Peace and harmony with common courtesy should
always prevail.
(6) The presentation of the "District Traveling Gavel" will
presented it to the visiting lodge before closing of the lodge.
(7) The lodge receiving the Gavel will notify the District Deputy
that they have it in there position, so when he is asked in his
travels, the other lodges will know where it is.
(8) Newly assigned D.D.G.M. will start the gavel at his home
lodge.
(9) A Lodge can obtain the gavel from the Lodge that obtained it
from them, provided no other Lodge is in contention
